Our problem is non celebrities rarely get heard through books and teachers are very low status. If you read my book I explain that as well as how one of our members knew Maya Angelou and she sent my 2008 book to Oprah. I got a call from her researcher but no one wanted to touch this. As I explained we have a problem with cover ups. People don’t believe them for decades. I knew I’d have to do this for a long time so I was prepared and frankly people like Oprah may be regretful now that my prediction that we’d lose democracy materialized.
Prof. Reich is quoted in my book so he’d be on the top of the list if I sent books. But it doesn’t work when nobodies send stuff. I just signed up for an expensive marketing program to get help since only money has a voice these days. They wil help get a nobody on podcasts. Every day I see what these fascists are doing I’m more motivated to get my book out there any possible way.
I appreciate your interest. I’m working on getting a pdf of the book online so people can read it for free. I may add audio chapters on Substack. I’m glad you found it since I was thinking people couldn’t find it as so few listened. Luckily I’m a teacher hardwired for disappointment. That’s why I was so good with students and so able to not succeed for 30 years now. I’m very lucky to have a husband who supports my costly work! We both know once a powerful person reads it there will be a seismic shift and a lot of shocked people thinking how did we miss that? But I agree Reich is one person who must read it.
He did “like” one of my recent posts so we can hope. I have no doubt he’ll appreciate it. I’ve received a couple of outstanding editorial reviews but people won’t endorse something this shocking. If you saw the movie Spotlight about investigating priest abuse The Boston Globe almost gave up. Marketing a book by an unknown person is like winning the lottery. Changing minds that a horrible thing is happening and we’re clueless is even harder. But since I’m one determined teacher I’m never giving up. We can thank Trump for my tenacity. He’s so horrible my work gives me a sense of peace.
Either this book will turn this country around in my lifetime or it will allow a future generation to serve up a lot of shame. Bottom line it explains why we have school shootings - I even have testimony from a teacher who was criminally indicted for telling the police a student had brought a bag of guns. His administration accused him of telling the kid to
bring them. That’s what they do to teachers who try to do the right thing so most see nothing and we have massacres. It couldn’t get much worse yet I can’t reach Sandy Hook, David Hogg or Matthew McConaughey
who’s passionate about Uvalde. If parents won’t read a book to protect their children from murder getting them to absorb what a lousy educstion is doing to our nation is close to hopeless. (I’m trying to market it in other countries with the title How America Got Trumped. I focused on school shootings for this version figuring I need a way to get readers who don’t think much. Those fascists really emptied our brains! And Trump the greatest opportunist ever saw gold.
I welcome any other ideas you may have but honestly doing this for 30 years there’s little I haven’t done!

I have been very aware of the importance of running for and filling school board and library positions as they have leaked away into the tight narrow grip of those who want to and now do ban books etc
But I thought of RobtReich for several reasons, one is he just retired from teaching so maybe he could give your books some consideration. You ever know
I wrote a response that he liked at that link so hopefully he’s looking into it. But I’m used to people rolling their eyes thinking this can’t be happening. We’d know. Watching everyone fold under Trump will help people believe what happened to our schools. It’s not that all those people are that evil. It’s that they’re fearful. That’s human nature. My first book described all the institutional accomplices. They just fsll Into line under absolute power. That’s what our schools did forty years ago and if Liz Cheney hss no power you’d think someone like me has even less. But never underestimate or give away the power of a good teacher. That’s the whole point of my work. There used to be lots of teachers like me making sure we helped kids reach their potential against the odds. Fascists ended our careers. My hope is people will learn what teachers can and should do from learning what I’ve done for so many years because I’m a teacher.
Because I knew we’d lose our democracy for a long time now - since 1995 - having been a teacher and then an organizer of 1000’s of teachers who saw what I saw going on in our schools, I’m not feeling that dark knowing Trump is about to be coronated. I’ve expected it.
Plus, since I know how it happened, I have more faith than most that the good people in this country will get our democracy back. I know: since they weren’t educated properly, this was inevitable.
It’s something we must get through because we didn’t learn to become citizens, to do the work of citizens. It’s not because so many didn’t care. It’s because so many didn’t learn what democracy requires to remain standing.
This will be hard, but I believe we’re not going to let an insane, egomaniac and his deplorable, hollow followers take our country from us. I hold on to that belief because I deeply believe in education.
Had we provided a solid education this never would have happened. However, we are now going to experience the alternative to a solid education - learning things the hard way. This lesson will make us the citizens our corrupted schools failed to make us.

(It does explain school shootings and yet our country is so dysfunctional I cannot get the Sandy Hook or Parkland people to listen to me or other teachers who know why school shootings happen. We really are a hot mess!)
I branded. That’s how Trump seized power. Education makes people think. Branding works on people who don’t think. Corrupt schools took a thinking country to an easily brainwashed country. It will be work, but we can bring this country back and then bring our schools back.
Do this work knowing that our schools that have been dysfunctional have been so because those running them wanted them that way for their own selfish purposes. We can easily have authentic schools once we get democracy back.
Tomorrow’s coronation can carve a path back to authentic education. With that hope and my belief in education I face tomorrow with light

I’ll make the gun thing easy. Teachers are afraid to even mention a kid seems off because they go after the teacher for creating issues.
